
Francesco Cerrato Composer
FRANCESCO CERRATO was born in Asti in 1982 and began studying the violin at the age of four with Lee Robert Mosca at the Suzuki Talent Center in Turin. At the age of thirteen, he also began studying composition with Arturo Sacchetti. From an early age, he appeared as a protagonist in international television and theater productions (RAI, Mediaset, Smith-Hemion Productions).
After graduating from high school at the age of seventeen, he continued his violin studies with Pavel Vernikov. Cerrato won numerous international competitions during the early years of his concert career and has performed in over 400 concerts across Europe, Russia, Africa, Brazil, the USA, Korea, and Japan.
In 2012, he founded Armoniosa, an ensemble and research group dedicated to early music, with which he has developed an intense concert and recording activity throughout Europe. The British magazine Gramophone described Cerrato as “an authentic violin ace.”
His multifaceted career has brought him into contact with major figures in music and the performing arts, including Roger Moore, Audrey Hepburn, Al Jarreau, Carla Fracci, Reinhard Goebel, Giuliano Carmignola, Mario Brunello, Enrico Bronzi, Fabio Vacchi, Azio Corghi, Luca Ronconi, Giorgio Conte, Ron, Vittorio De Scalzi, Roberto Tiranti, Daniele Di Bonaventura, Javier Girotto, Rita Marcotulli, Giampaolo Bandini, Cesare Chiacchiaretta, among many others.
As a composer, violinist, and music producer, he collaborates with leading international labels such as EMI-KPM, Decca, Sony, Naxos, Warner-Chappell, and others. His music is broadcast daily in television shows (BBC, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, CBS, NBC, ABC, RAI, Mediaset, and others), documentaries (Discovery), and independent films and series around the world.
He is the founder and president of RedDress s.r.l., a company established in 2018 for the production and distribution of music albums and the organization of cultural events. In 2021, with the production of Larvae, a short film by Alessandro Rota, RedDress expanded its activity into the field of independent film production.
In 2022, Cerrato was appointed composer and arranger in residence for the Christmas concerts organized for the shareholders of the Gruppo Cassa di Risparmio di Asti. For this occasion, he composed and arranged works for the rock-symphonic ensemble Pops’Harmonic Orchestra in collaboration with renowned Italian singers such as Enrico Ruggeri, Eugenio Finardi, and Angelo Branduardi.
Since January 2023, he has been based in Turin, where he continues his work in collaboration with international music labels such as Machiavelli Music (Italy), Glory Oath + Blood / Warner Chappell, Industry Music (Los Angeles, USA), and others.
