Igor Budinstein Conductor
IGOR BUDINSTEIN is the principal conductor of the Berliner Cappella Chamber Orchestra, solo violist of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, a practicing violinist, soloist, presenter, chamber musician, lecturer, and music educator.
For more than 15 years, he has been leading the Berliner Cappella Chamber Orchestra. Guest conducting engagements have taken him to top German orchestras such as the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Hamburger Symphoniker, Göttinger Symphonie Orchester, Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, and others. Internationally, he has conducted in China, Mexico, Poland, Canada, Denmark, Ukraine, Switzerland, and Italy.
When he was appointed solo violist of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the age of 24, he felt that his musical education was not yet complete. He further honed his viola skills under the world-renowned Bruno Giuranna at the UdK Berlin, his violin technique with Young Uck Kim at the HfM Detmold, and Christiane Edinger at the HfM Lübeck, and studied conducting with Christian Ehwald at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin.
In parallel, he pursued an active career as a conductor, soloist, and chamber musician.
Even as a solo violist, he was in demand in leading orchestras across Germany. He led the viola sections of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera, Hessischer Rundfunk Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Dresden and Berlin State Capitols, and Hamburg State Opera.
As both a violist and violinist, he has performed as a soloist, with various chamber music ensembles, and with orchestras in major music centers around the world and at leading festivals in Europe, America, Asia, and South America.
For the past five years, Igor Budinstein has regularly given lectures on musical understanding in Germany, Norway, the USA, Singapore, and on Mediterranean cruises. For a long time, he was a sought-after mentor at the Academy of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and now also teaches international masterclasses in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and Singapore.
