ENSEMBLE DEL PASSATO
The ENSEMBLE DEL PASSATO was created in 2017. The artists – Anna Budzyńska, Henryk Kasperczak, and Maciej Kończak – share a passion for early music and the subtle sound of voice, lute, and guitars. The ensemble is known for its rich guitar improvisations, dialoguing with the improvised ornaments in the vocal part.
The artists combine their quest for a variety of tone colours and moods with intense expression, dynamism, and energy of the created programmes. They arrange all pieces by themselves, thanks to which they feel at ease in a wide repertoire – from Renaissance, through Baroque and Classicism, to Romanticism. They search for works forgotten in old prints and manuscripts to reproduce their likely forms and sound and then reintroduce them to the concert repertoire. Their musical imagination makes them feel as comfortable in Italian, English, or German works as in pieces by native composers. They carefully prepare their programmes, as a result of which the listeners can expect a well-thought-out narrative. Their concerts are always a musical adventure at the highest artistic level.
The ensemble performs at prestigious concerts and festivals; its foreign debut in May 2024 in the Berlin Konzerthaus was enthusiastically received.
In 2023, the DUX record label released the ensemble’s debut album entitled Clori, 1622, launching the publishing series Music From 400 Years Ago, which is continued by these albums.
