
Florian Engelhardt Conductor
FLORIAN ENGELHARDT was born in Erlangen (Germany) in 1970. He studied church music in Freiburg im Breisgau and voice in Basel. As a bass soloist, he has performed at the Tonhalle Zürich and the KKL Luzern. As a member of renowned vocal ensembles, he has appeared under the direction of Thomas Hengelbrock, Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle, and Claudio Abbado.
He later pursued orchestral conducting studies in Zurich and Leipzig. As a conductor, Florian Engelhardt has performed in Germany, France, Switzerland, and Bulgaria. He made his operatic debut in 2021 at the Stara Zagora State Opera with Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. This was followed by acclaimed productions of Verdi’s La Traviata (2022) and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci (2024).
In 2023, Florian Engelhardt founded the Orchestre trinational du Haut-Rhin. With this professional symphony orchestra, he conducted the German and French premieres of Jean-Luc Darbellay’s Trittico (2014). Performances of Bizet’s rarely heard Roma Symphony and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 also made these concerts outstanding musical events.
